they plant this all over Oregon and Washington too for ornamental... whenever I've tried it down here (even in Northern California) it doesn't last.

I guess you don't have to worry about snakes walking through the woods up there. Thats nice. Here we have 3 kinds of rattlesnake you have to keep your eyes and ears open for. I usually bang a stick on the ground while walking through the woods to give them warning I'm coming.

It does resemble NZ doesn't it. Actually I was standing on a paved bike trail when I took this.
